Training in “living together”
The Étoiles du Cameroun Association is launching its first training project, “Growing as a person and learning to relate well“
In this first meeting, all members of the Association, connected from various countries (Canada, Italy, Spain, Cameroon, and Burkina Faso), met online and discussed the main points of the Social Competence Program: thought patterns, emotional management, moral development (moral values), and social skills.
The goal was to explore and delve deeper into this Program to learn how to live together, improve interpersonal relationships, and learn to resolve conflicts appropriately—that is, effectively and fairly.
To be a well-rounded individual and maintain positive interpersonal relationships, it is essential to consider three fundamental aspects: thoughts, emotions, and values.
This Social Skills Program will teach participants to use five types of THINKING: causal, alternative, consequential, perspective-oriented, and means-end.
The fascinating and complex world of human EMOTIONS (joy, sadness, anger, compassion, etc.) will also be explored.
Next, the program will focus on developing MORAL VALUES, according to Kohlberg’s six stages of moral development, through the exercise of moral dilemmas.
Finally, practicing various SOCIAL SKILLS will be fundamental for shaping habitual behaviors with an assertive style—that is, effective and fair behavior—in every situation.
At the end of this session, all participants committed to continuing the training to deepen their knowledge. The goal is for the participants to be able to internalize and then pass on this content and these practices in order to gradually transform our social environment.
