For the second year in a row, Étoiles du Cameroun is supporting vulnerable children on their path to education.
“We started, we’re back, and we’re expanding our reach.”
This 2026-2027 school year, Étoiles du Cameroun is renewing its commitment to orphaned and vulnerable children in crisis-affected areas of Northwest Cameroon.
For many children, the start of the school year means new notebooks, reuniting with friends, and discovering a new classroom. But for some, going to school remains a real challenge. Orphans, displaced persons, or children from particularly vulnerable families risk not attending school simply because their families lack the resources to finance the start of the school year. It is to address this reality that Étoiles du Cameroun has organized, for the second consecutive year, an initiative to support their education.
A Second Edition in Two Communities
Following an initial initiative in Nkambe last February, which helped several orphaned children who were not attending school, the project continued this year and expanded to Kumbo. For the 2026-2027 school year, many children, primarily in nursery and primary school, received support including school supplies, school bag, uniform, and school fees.
More than just a bag and school materials: a chance to go to school
The goal of this initiative is not simply to distribute school materials. It is to enable children at risk of being excluded from the school system to take their place in the classroom. Every uniform, every book, and every school fee covered helps remove an obstacle in their path. On the ground, the project also relies on the presence of a local volunteer, who helps identify needs and facilitate implementation within the communities involved.
Building the Future, One Child at a Time
This second edition is also the result of a collective effort, with the support of our partner organization, Estrellas de Camerún.
We are convinced that social action is truly meaningful when it addresses an immediate need while also opening up a broader perspective.
Helping a child go to school today means helping shape their future tomorrow. In Nkambe as in Kumbo, our commitment continues with this conviction: no child should have their future compromised simply because life circumstances have placed them in a vulnerable situation. This back-to-school season is a milestone. We hope it will also be the beginning of a longer journey, filled with learning, confidence, and opportunities.
Étoiles du Cameroun warmly thanks all the individuals, donors, partners, and volunteers who contributed, directly or indirectly, to the success of this initiative. Your support has enabled children to return to school.
