A Science Innovation Center to transform the future of young people in Cameroon
In Cameroon, many children and young people lack access to appropriate educational infrastructure, particularly in the fields of science and technology. This reality limits their ability to develop essential skills and integrate into an increasingly innovation-driven world.
To address this challenge, the association Étoiles du Cameroun (Stars of Cameroon) aims to create the CEIS (Scientific Innovation Education Center), an initiative designed to make science education more accessible, practical, and inclusive. The project is based on the creation of an educational center combined with a mobile program, allowing it to reach both urban areas and often-excluded rural communities.
At the center, young people will be able to participate in interactive workshops that emphasize hands-on learning. The goal is to stimulate their curiosity, strengthen their critical thinking skills, and equip them with the tools they need to understand and transform their environment.
In parallel, the mobile program will allow for direct intervention in schools and villages, bringing scientific and educational activities to areas where resources are limited. This approach ensures greater equity in access to education and makes it possible to include groups often overlooked.
The project’s impact is both educational and social. In addition to transmitting knowledge, the CEIS helps to build young people’s confidence, encourage scientific vocations, and support teachers in their pedagogical practices. From its first phase, the project aims to reach more than 700 children and young people.
By adopting a hybrid model, combining beneficiary contributions and high-impact social activities, the CEIS is designed for sustainability. Ultimately, it could be extended to other regions, thus contributing to a lasting transformation of access to science education in Cameroon.
The CEIS thus represents much more than a simple educational center: it constitutes a real lever for equal opportunities, local innovation and the development of skills of Cameroonian youth.
