Initiative for the economic empowerment of communities
The Étoiles du Cameroun association is working on a program to promote economic self-reliance and skills development within communities. This initiative reflects the association’s commitment to supporting sustainable solutions that enable vulnerable populations to develop their own livelihoods.
This program originated from the Internal Project Innovation Competition (CIIP), organized by the association to encourage the creativity, commitment, and entrepreneurial spirit of its members. Through this initiative, several high-impact social project ideas were proposed and selected for their potential for economic and social transformation.
The program currently focuses on three main areas: community poultry farming, pig farming, and the creation of a practical training center.
Community poultry farming
The chicken farming project aims to develop an accessible and profitable income-generating activity for beneficiaries. Poultry farming represents a significant economic opportunity because it requires a relatively moderate investment while offering a rapid production cycle.
This project will enable beneficiaries to learn the basics of livestock farming, animal health management, and product marketing. The goal is to allow participants to gradually develop their own businesses and improve their living conditions through the income generated.
Pig farming
The second project focuses on developing a community pig farm. This activity also provides a sustainable source of income, contributing to improved economic security for families.
Through this project, beneficiaries will receive training in livestock farming techniques, animal nutrition, disease prevention, and farm management. The objective is to create a viable, long-term business that can support households and generate local economic opportunities.
Practical training center
The third component of the program involves establishing a practical training center to impart useful skills to young people and those wishing to develop an economic activity.
This center will offer training focused on practical application and the acquisition of concrete skills in various fields. It will also serve as a framework for supporting beneficiaries in developing their projects and activities.
Through this program, the Étoiles du Cameroun Association aims to:
- promote the economic independence of beneficiaries;
- encourage local entrepreneurship;
- strengthen the practical skills of women, young people and adults;
- promote learning by doing;
- support the creation of sustainable income-generating activities;
- create local opportunities for economic integration; and
- contribute to the socio-economic development of communities.
By combining training and concrete economic activities, this program aims to create sustainable solutions capable of reducing economic vulnerability and promoting social inclusion.
